Today, Apple releases refreshed models of their MacBook Air and entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro with newer processors and features. Apple also adjusted the prices of those machines.
Gone with the 13-inch MacBook Pro is the physical keyboard. Apple replaced the function keys with a Touch bar and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The old dual-core Intel 7th generation Core i5 CPU is swapped with a 1.4 GHz quad-core Intel 8th gen Core i5, which can boost up to 3.9 GHz. It can be upgraded to a 1.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7.
For the MacBook Air, nothing major has changed. The overall design remains identical with the previous generation. The new MacBook Air will still use the dual-core Intel 8th generation processor. The only difference is the addition of True Tone display technology, which can adjust the display’s colors based on the surrounding environment automatically.
The entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro now starts at $1299 USD (MSRP), with 128 GB of SSD storage and 8 GB of RAM. The new MacBook Air’s base model is priced at $1099 USD (MSRP), decreased by $100 USD. College students can purchase the MacBooks for an even lower prices.
