Unboxing and Review of RAIJINTEK LETO PRO RGB CPU Cooler

RAIJINTEK LETO PRO RGB CPU Cooler

The LETO PRO RGB, is a tower-type CPU cooler from RAIJINTEK with the addition of two MACULA 12 RGB cooling fans. It is a upgraded version of the original LETO cooler, and can support most major sockets in the market. Let’s see how it performs.

Unboxing

RAIJINTEK LETO PRO RGB CPU Cooler

It seems like RAIJINTEK is using the same packaging for both the LETO PRO BLACK and LETO PRO RGB coolers, which are 100% identical, except for the RGB lighting. You can also find the model names, detailed specifications for the two coolers and included fans at the front and back of the box.

On the sides, there are two sets of EAN and UPC codes for respective models, with a tick to indicated the exact one you get in the box. This time, we are taking a look at the LETO PRO RGB cooler.

It shows all the cooler supported sockets on the top, including Intel LGA 775 to 115x, LGA 201x to LGA 2066 sockets and AMD FM1 to FM2+, AM2 to AM4 sockets.

Although the cooler arrived without any damage, a little more padding around the cooler would be better.

Inside the package, the accessories and mounting hardware are kept in a separate box. A installation manual in different languages is included.

The mounting system of the LETO PRO RGB cooler supports all major CPU sockets in the market. For the two included cooling fans, there are two Y-cables for both the 4-pin PWM fan header and 4-pin RGB header.

The LETO PRO RGB is a single tower air cooler, which the heat sink is sandwiched by the two included cooling fans. The whole aluminium heatsink and heatpipes are coated with black paint, that I personally think it looks quite stylish and awesome.

The top of the heatsink has an embossed “RAIJINTEK” logo. The four heatpipes pass through the fin stacks and come up on the top to transfer the heat from the CPU to the surface area of the fins.

There are a total of four 6 mm heatpipes for the LETO PRO RGB cooler. The heatpipes will also make direct contact to the I.H.S (Integrated Heat Spreader) of the CPU when installed. They are flattened and polished to form a smooth surface for the CPU contact base at the bottom.

The two included cooling fans are RAIJINTEK’s own MACULA 12 Rainbow RGB series fans. The 120 mm fan can spin from 800 RPM up to 1800 RPM, controlled by the 4-pin PWM fan header. The fan uses sleeved bearing with mean time between failure (MTBF) of about 40,000 hours. Both sides of the fan has a circle LED ring surround the blades, providing the necessary RGB lighting. There are also anti-vibration rubber pads on each corner.

The MACULA 12 Rainbow RGB fan needs two cables to control all its functionality. Its fan speed is determined by the 4-pin PWM header, while the RGB lighting by another 4-pin RGB header.

Review

How well will the RAIJINTEK LETO PRO RGB cooler perform in our testing?

Installation

The LETO PRO RGB is not difficult to install. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, but it is a bit more complicated than other mainstream mounting systems. Self-retaining screws or thumbscrews would help simplify the process.

RGB Lighting

To control the RGB lighting effect, you will have to connect to the motherboard’s RGB header. We are using the ASRock Z370 Killer SLI and its ASRock RGB LED software. You will be able to choose between 7 modes, including Static, Breathing, Strobe, Cycling, Random, Wave and Music. You can change the LED’s color from the color wheel, as well as the speed of the effect.

A simple RGB LED hub/controller should be included in the package for those who does not have a compatible motherboard, though it would increase the cost of the cooler.

Testing Methodology

To find out how the cooler performs, the benchmarks are done using AIDA64 to run a CPU stress test. CPU, FPU and system cache are stressed during the test. Ambient temperature is around 25°C.

Results will be taken at a silent (~800 RPM) and full speed (~1800 RPM) fan profile, controlled via the motherboard CPU fan header. Both the temperature of the CPU package and the hottest core will be recorded at idle and full load with both single fan and dual fan setup.

Performance

RAIJINTEK LETO PRO RGB CPU Cooler

The LETO PRO RGB cooler managed to keep our i5-8400 CPU package’s temperatures at 31°C to 32°C when idle, no matter which fan configurations. With a single fan in silent fan profile (~800 RPM), the temperature stayed at 59°C under load. It dropped to 56°C when fan speed is at maximum, a 5% improvement. After adding an extra fan to the cooler, the temperature further decreased to 55°C at full fan speed (~1800 RPM).

The cooler was able to maintain the hottest core temperature around 60°C during the stress test. Temperatures for both single-fan and dual-fan setup at full speed recorded the same results at 57°C.

For medium-sized single tower cooler, the LETO PRO RGB cooler perform reasonably well. It matches the Noctua NH-C14S C-Type cooler (its review here) at silent fan speed, though fall slightly behind when at full speed.

Conclusion

Unboxing Treatment

The LETO PRO RGB cooler packs some decent performance, capable of cooling a slightly overclocked CPU. It has no problem handling our non-overclockable i5-8400 processor. On top of that, it follows the current trend of PC building, offering RGB lighting. The LEDs on the fan are bright, responsive and customizable through the motherboard software. Combined with the cooler stealthy black heatsink, it should complement most PC builds without any issues.

The MACULA 12 Rainbow RGB fan works as expected. It keeps relatively quiet when in operation. Little noise is heard when fan is spinning near maximum speed.

Overall, the LETO PRO RGB is a well-built, functional air cooler from RAIJINTEK. It costs about £34.99 British Pounds (MSRP), which is approximately $47.35 USD. This price include a black-coated heatsink, two RGB fans and a 5-year warranty for the cooler (2 years for the fans). If you are looking for a budget cooler with RGB lighting, maybe the LETO PRO RGB does worth your consideration.
