Recently, Apple allows software developers to offer their applications for pre-order in the App Store. You can make your purchase before the actual apps are officially out yet. Google has had this feature in their Play Store for quite some time. And finally, Apple added it to their own lineup.
In order to enable pre-order, developers will need to choose a download release date of up to 90 days later, when submitting the apps to Apple. iOS, macOS and tvOS apps are all available for pre-order on their respective App Stores. However, only devices running on iOS 11.2, tvOS 11.2, and macOS 10.13.2 or later can pre-order.

Customers, who make a pre-order, will not be charged until the actual launch date. They will be charged with the lowest possible price, if the pre-order price and final release price are different. They will be notified and the app will be automatically downloaded, when the app is released.
The pre-order feature would be useful for software developers to draw customers’ attention before the final release of the applications, especially for games. It is great that Apple finally added it to the App Store.
