Tesla, one of the most well-known all-electric vehicles manufacturers in the world. Its electric sedans and SUVs can travel over 300 miles (480 kilometers) in a single charge. The latest “budget” sedan, Model 3, offers similar performance at a lower price, which pushes the all-electric vehicle’s technologies to the mainstream. Now, the next big thing Tesla wants to make in the automotive industry is semi-truck. And Tesla will be announcing it on 26 October.
The semi-truck was set to reveal on September. For whatever reason Tesla encountered, the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk has announced on his official Twitter Page that the unveiling and test drive will be taken place on 26 October in Hawthorne, California.
Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride tentatively scheduled for Oct 26th in Hawthorne. Worth seeing this beast in person. It’s unreal.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 13, 2017
Elon Musk himself called the semi-truck a beast and unreal to see. Rumor suggests that the semi-truck will have a range of about 300 miles, which is no where near the 1000 miles range of conventional long-haul diesel trucks. With batteries reaching higher power density over time, the range of the Tesla semi-truck may improve, similar to the increased range for the Model S and Model X.
If the Tesla semi-truck can at least get into the lower-end/shorter range truck market, it will be a big positive move for Tesla to make all-electric vehicles more wide-spread than ever.
